Dietrich Kuhlmann’s Message to Members

With the Fourth of July holiday behind us, summer is officially underway in the U.S., bringing with it longer days, warmer temperatures and more time to spend outdoors with friends and loved ones.

Of course, for many Active Duty Servicemembers and their families, summer also means one of the year’s busiest Permanent Change of Station, or PCS, seasons. Having gone through the process myself throughout my career in the Navy, I know that PCSing is one of those unique things about military life that never seems to get easier the more you do it.

Recognizing the challenges that come with each assignment, Navy Federal recently launched a new PCS member support initiative. The centralized hub includes several resources designed to ease the PCS transition—from managing moving costs and navigating the DoD reimbursement process to identifying top options for childcare in a new neighborhood. In the months ahead, we’ll continue to post additional products and resources, all of which will help make PCSing more manageable for the 470,000 Navy Federal members who receive PCS orders each year.

One feature we’ve highlighted to help ease this transition is the option to complete home loan closings remotely. Virtual closings can make the home-buying process more convenient, and they’re not only available to members going through a PCS. Visit our online Home Buying Center for a host of other relevant resources and educational tools, no matter the reason for your move.

The announcement of the new PCS initiative came as part of our celebration of Military Appreciation Month in May. Throughout the month, we leveraged several ongoing partnerships to expand our support of America’s military community. That included working alongside Operation Gratitude to assemble 13,000 paracords for deployed Servicemembers and partnering on the USO Support the Enlisted Project to donate roughly 4,500 personal care items for deployed troops and military families.

We also hosted the first-ever MAM JAM Concert Series—an event to honor our Active Duty community and celebrate military service in America. Grammy-winning duo Dan + Shay performed outside of the Cedar Park, Texas and Wilmington, North Carolina areas, both of which have prominent nearby bases and military populations.

Finally, in late June Navy Federal announced the launch of a new partnership with the Armed Services YMCA to expand access to childcare and summer camp programming in five key U.S. markets. Finding quality, affordable care is often a particular challenge for military families, an issue with far-reaching impacts on America’s overall military readiness. Addressing this need aligns with Navy Federal’s broader mission as a financial institution committed to serving the U.S. military community, and we’re proud to be partnering with the ASYMCA in this space. As always, thank you for placing your trust in Navy Federal. Please know that we’re always just a call, click or branch visit away if there’s anything we can do for you or your family.

Sincerely,
